Looking for something delightful for Burns Night? THREE BORDER SONGS are being performed in Edinburgh for the first time on Saturday 26th Jan, by the wonderful Hannah Rarity (2018 Scottish Trad Musician of the Year) and Artisan Trio (SCO musicians led by Aisling O’Dea).
THREE BORDER SONGS were commissioned by the Borders Heritage Festival/Scottish Chamber Orchestra and they’re really special! Three Borders women from three Borders houses given voice and set to magical music by Suzanne Parry:
The Reiver Wife of Aikwood and her dish o spurs
The Kist Bride of Abbotsford and her tragic hide-and-seek
The Bowhill debutante and her secret love
Suzanne has recently been in the news for her Incredible Distance multimedia commission for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra with the Wester Hailes community. Her music is beautiful – have a listen to The Kist Bride and Hannah Rarity‘s amazing way with Scots song and come along!
The whole evening promises to be a celebration of music and Scots bards old and new with a classical twist, played by the brilliant Artisan musicians. And in the iconic setting of the Patrick Geddes Centre, just below the Castle!
