Since her appearance on Sound Cycle One-Weave Millie Hanlon Cole aka Magpie Blue’s  star has been  very much  on the ascendant, and we are delighted she can join us  this year ahead of her opening slot for the Proclaimers the following day!

“Magpie Blue is the guise of Millie Hanlon Cole, singer, songwriter and lyricist based in Edinburgh. Magpie Blue uses her distinctive voice to illustrate the brutally honest inner thoughts of an anxious mind.”

Millie  is from Peebles,  and is a uniquely talented singer  and songwriter ,who plays acoustic guitar and uses a loop pedal to achieve an amazing sound  both live and in the studio. She began writing at the age of fourteen and has been performing ever since, including  performances live on the Radio Scotland’s Janice Forsyth show and support slots for Dougie Maclean and Karine Polwart  .  With the help of her loop stations she creates layers of alternative, acoustic melodies. Her influences are an eclectic mix of sounds ranging from The Smiths to the likes of Alt-J and Bombay Bicycle Club. She has also been compared to a young Laura Marling and KT Tunstall accompanied with an “impressive depth and range” vocally.
