TINDERBOX SESSIONS : LIVE AT MAC ARTS – EVERY WEDNESDAY EVENING THROUGHOUT MAY – CONCERT FRIDAY JUNE 7TH.
SOUND CYCLE HAVE TEAMED UP WITH BORDERS YOUNG CREATIVES AND MAC ARTS TO BRING YOU THE TINDERBOX SESSIONS.
Tinderbox is a fusion of instruments and styles, writing and performing original music and collaborating with rising bands and artists.
If you haven’t made it yet to Mac Arts in Galashiels then this Friday is the time to do it! The doors of this stunning converted church have been open each Wednesday night for the past 6 weeks to give a space for young people living across the Scottish Borders to come together and get creative. James Mackintosh of Sound cycle, the Scottish Borders Youth Music Forum, has hosted Niki , Rab and Jed from Tinderbox coming down to collaborate with the young people on writing, arranging ,orchestrating and building up to performing some exciting new music. ( as well as the challenge of seeing how many gig posters we can get up on route from Edinburgh to Galashiels!)
We will be running informal free drop in sessions at Mac Arts every Wednesday evening throughout May between 6 pm and 8.30pm , plus Wed 5th May leading up to Friday the 7th June, whena 20-piece Tinderbox Orchestra will join forces with with young musicians from around the Borders for a spectacular gig. If your a solo musician or a band, come along to the back chapel at Mac Arts in Galashiels for a jam , we’ll be running a PA , with a drum kit and full backline. Musical collaboration is encouraged, but solo artists are very welcome too, in fact everyone welcome, whatever your style , instrument or ability.
As well as a great opportunity to jam and practise new techniques, you’ll be working alongside members of the Tinderbox Collective who will be running arrangement and groupwork sessions leading up to the gig on Friday the 7th June.
